Change of Name / Address on your CNIC



For modification OR change of data in your (CNIC) National Identity Card, NADRA helps you. Please check complete procedure & other details below.

Required Documents for Various Changes to be Made in Your CNIC


If you need to make any changes to the information provided on your Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC), you must submit the following documents to the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA):

Change in Address:

  • Your original CNIC
  • The original CNIC of your blood relative, spouse, or wife with the same address OR The original utility bill in your name and with your permanent address

Change in Date of Birth:

  • Your original CNIC
  • Child Registration Certificate (Form-B)
  • Your Matric Certificate, Matric Marks-Sheet, Medical Certificate, or Passport
Note: If you are 45 years or above, your date of birth cannot be changed. You can change your date of birth only once. If you have an unnatural age with real siblings, you can change your date of birth up to one year (365 days). No document is required for changing the day and month of your date of birth.

Change in Marital Status:

  • Your original CNIC
  • If you are married, Nikahnama or Marriage Certificate, Affidavit, or husband’s CNIC (if Nikahnama or Marriage Certificate is not available, bring your wife or husband with you. If they are not available, bring any one from in-laws/parents with CNIC) OR If you are divorced, Certificate of Arbitrary Council or Affidavit OR If your husband has died, Death Certificate of Husband/ Affidavit

Change in Name:

  • Your original CNIC
  • Child Registration Certificate (Form-B)
  • Matric Certificate, Matric Marks-Sheet, Medical Certificate, or Passport
  • Affidavit attested by Oath Commissioner/Certificate from Daarul-Afta (only for religious conversions)
Note: Bring a blood-relative as father/mother/brother/sister/son/daughter with their CNIC to the NADRA office. The operator will enter your data and give you its print, which the blood-relative will attest. Male applicants can change their name only once, while female applicants can change their name multiple times due to a change from father to husband name.

Change in Gender (Male/Female):

  • Depends upon the desire or appearance of the applicant.

Change in Religion:

  • Your original CNIC
  • Affidavit/Certificate from Darul-Afta (for conversions to Islam) OR System Generated Undertaking or witness of the same religion (from Islam to other religion)

Change in Parent’s Name/Information:

  • Your original CNIC
  • Child Registration Certificate (Form-B)
  • Matric Certificate, Matric Marks-Sheet, Medical Certificate, or Passport
  • The original CNIC of the parent. Also, bring the parent with you to the NADRA office with their CNIC.
Note: You can correct the names of your parents (whether alive or not).

Change in Your Signature on Your CNIC:

  • Your original CNIC
  • Two photocopies of your CNIC


Steps:

  • Pay the fee and get a token number from the counter.
  • Staff will take your fresh photograph.
  • An officer will take your fresh fingerprints and signature.
  • You will surrender/submit your original CNIC.
  • NADRA will send an SMS to your mobile when your new CNIC is ready.
  • You can collect your new CNIC in person from the NADRA Office on the given date.


Tips:

Avoid applying mehndi, dust, or oil to your fingers when providing fingerprints.
Keep enough change of money with You.
